Items Needed
- Black Cardstock or Construction Paper
- Lamp with Cloth Shade
- Exacto Knife
- Printer with Black Ink
- Gluestick or Rubber Cement
- Template Designs Found Below
Step 1: Purchase an ordinary floor lamp with a cloth shade, I recommend this one as the square shape makes it much easier to place the cutouts on it.
Step 2: Purchase Black paper online or from your nearest office supply store. I used construction paper, but black cardstock would be just as good if not better.
Step 3: Print the following designs onto their own full sheet of black paper.
Step 4: Take your exacto knife (make sure the blade is still sharp) and cut out the printed pattern ignoring backgrounds. This is the hardest step and can take a while, it took me about 45 minutes to cut out all three.
Step 5: Take your freshly cut out sillouhettes and glue them to the inside of your cloth lamp shade. If you are using the lamp I recommended then you will not have to worry about the paper being to close to the bulb and burning, this probably isn’t an issue on other lamps but I can’t say for certain.
If you followed all the steps you should have a lamp that looks like the one above.
